There are many ways in which you could become actively involved in helping local cats to live a better life.

Cats Protection welcomes volunteers with open arms, whether you are young or old, male or female, there's a place for you with us!

Volunteering is the most worthwhile thing you can ever do. It gives a real sense of achievement, allows the development of new skills
and the social possibilities are endless!

Current Volunteer Opportunities in the Branch are as follows:

  • Collections Administrator
Liaising with local supermarkets, pet stores etc to arrange scheduled collection dates throughout the year.
and then liaising with our team of collections volunteers to ensure that there is sufficient coverage during
the course of the actual collection day.  On the day setting up and breaking down and pop up banner,
collection buckets, posters etc at the collection site, and then collecting the money at the end of the day,
and passing it to the branch treasurer

  • Fund Raising Helpers
Helping us to sell goods at our outside events, and with the packing and unpacking of the goods
at the events.   Must be around during the day, and have transportation

Cat Welfare

  • Fosterers - Full time and Emergency
People to care for our cats before they are rehomed. You will need one dedicated room in your home that can be
used to house the cats that you will be caring for.  This is solely for the purpose of keeping any infection the cat may
have confined, so that it will not infect the whole house.  Everything else will be provided ... including the cats!

  • Home Visitors - Bracknell, Wokingham and other areas in our region
Home visitors are required in the Bracknell and Wokingham areas, and to cover the extended area of
Maidenhead, Slough and Windsor to carry out visits to homes of prospective new owners

Please contact us if you are interested.  All volunteers must become a member of the branch.

Fundraising volunteer

As a charity we rely on funds donated by generous members of the public to continue to help cats and kittens in need. Our fundraising volunteers are part of a passionate team that help raise funds to help our feline friends in need. They help plan and deliver exciting and varied fundraising events, which can be anything from craft fairs, cake sales, sponsored abseils – and anything in between!

Volunteer home visitor

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens looking for new and loving homes at any one time. Our volunteer home visitors support a local volunteer group by helping find our feline friends happy, caring and suitable homes. They communicate with potential adopters, match cats and kittens with new homes and provide support to new cat owners. This is a rewarding role, as our volunteer home visitors play a vital part in helping cats and kittens find their perfect forever homes.

Fundraising administration volunteer

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to the donations we receive from generous members of the public. Our fundraising administration volunteers help our feline friends by promoting the use of Gift Aid; making sure we receive the additional funds linked to donations made by taxpayers who have chosen to help us in this way. Every extra penny raised goes directly to helping cats across the UK, as little as 18p can make a difference, as this is enough to feed a cat in our care for a day!

Volunteer fosterer

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens needing temporary homes until they find their forever families. Many of our feline friends are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need.
